Faith Lutheran Programs for Young Children (PYC)

offers a variety of classes and age groups to meet the social and academic needs of children and families.

Our 3 Day Preschool class (M-T-W) is multi age with 3 and 4 year olds attending.  Two day preschool (TH-F) is intended just for 3's, while our PreK program (T-Th) requires children to be eligible for Kindergarten the next school year.

Playgroups are a family event, with infants and crawlers welcome to join their older sibling in our Toddler Room.

Our Preschool Charter requires all lead teachers to have completed a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood, Elementary or Special Education or a related field with extensive experience working with children from the ages of 0-5.  Most of our teachers have raised their own children or are in the process of raising school age children.

Child Safety

All parents and caregivers who have regular contact with children in our preschool classes or playgroups are required to complete Illinois Department of Children and Family Services' (DCFS) Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking System (CANTS) Authorization in order to enroll a child in our programs.

Nothing is more important to us than the safety and well being of the children in our care.

All staff have full FBI fingerprint background checks as well as the CANTS background check.

Children will learn through hands-on science, engineering and math activities. Children, especially younger ones, learn science best and understand scientific ideas better if they are able to investigate and experiment. Hands-on science can also help children think critically and gain confidence in their own ability to solve problems.

We are offering this program to children in both AM and PM PreK classes on Mondays from 9:00-12:30.
Children will bring a lunch to eat with their friends.

     Playgroups

Morning Playgroups meet on Tuesday or Thursday mornings from 9:10-10:40 a.m.
Children under the age of 3 attend with a parent or caregiver. This program meets the social needs of many older infants and children who need extra time before entering preschool. It is also supportive to the adults who attend as they form relationships with the other moms, dads & caregivers and share parenting experiences with each other. Tuition is "per family" and includes Developmental screenings each semester, a parenting newsletter and guidance under the Playgroup Facilitator. Morning Playgroups meet once a week during the school year. An evening playgroup is offered once a month for working parents.

The following playgroups are based on enrollment.  There is a minimum of 5 families for these programs to be held.

Evening groups meet the 2nd Thursday of the month from 6:00-7:15 PM.
Multiples Playgroup: A Group just for parents with Multiples meets once a month...this is a great way to connect with other parents going through the challenges of raising twins or triplets. Call the office for current meeting times!

Toddler Time/Parents Morning Out  Monday or Wednesday Mornings 9:00-12:00

This is for children ages 18 mo-3 years. This program meets the social needs of toddlers before entering preschool and also provides a safe learning environment while parents are away from their young child.  Activities include playtime, music, snack and art experiences as well as outdoor or indoor large motor time. Maximum group size is 8 children.
Tuition is based on attendance. $18 per session. Drop in care is offered if spots are available.
